Root Canal
What is Root Canal?
Root canal treatment, also known as endodontics, is a dental procedure used to save a tooth that has become infected or damaged, usually due to severe decay or injury. The treatment involves removing the infected pulp (the tissue inside the tooth), cleaning the root canal, and sealing it to prevent further infection.
Root canal treatment is essential for saving the tooth and preventing the spread of infection to other areas of the mouth, especially when symptoms like tooth discoloration or pain occur.
What are the Benefits of Root Canal?
Pain relief
Root canal treatment effectively eliminates the source of tooth pain by removing infected pulp and sealing the tooth.
Prevents further infection
By cleaning and sealing the root canal, the procedure prevents the infection from spreading to other teeth and tissues. This helps to avoid more serious health problems.
Preserves your natural tooth
Rather than extracting a damaged tooth, a root canal helps save your natural tooth, keeping your smile intact and preventing further complications.
Restores functionality
After a root canal, your tooth will be restored to its full function, allowing you to chew, bite, and speak naturally again.
Long-term solution
Root canal treatment offers a durable, long-lasting solution to tooth infection. Most treated teeth remain healthy for years to come.

The Treatment Process: Root Canal
Consultation and diagnosis
Your dentist will begin by examining your tooth, reviewing X-rays, and confirming if root canal treatment is necessary to save the tooth and eliminate infection.
Local anaesthesia
To ensure you are comfortable, we will administer a local anaesthetic to numb the area around your affected tooth. This will make the procedure pain-free.
Removal of infected tissue
Your dentist will then carefully remove the infected or damaged pulp inside the tooth to eliminate the source of infection and pain.
Cleaning and shaping
After the pulp is removed, the root canals will be thoroughly cleaned and shaped to prepare for filling and sealing.
Temporary filling
A temporary filling may be placed to protect the tooth while healing occurs and to provide a barrier against further infection.
Permanent filling
After the tooth has healed, a permanent filling is placed in the root canal to seal it and prevent any future bacterial growth.
Restoration
In many cases, a crown will be placed over the treated tooth to restore its strength and functionality and make sure it looks and feels natural.
Aftercare and follow-up
We provide aftercare instructions to ensure the treated tooth heals properly. A follow-up appointment may be scheduled to ensure the tooth is in optimal condition.
